Laura Meenen

The Hamburg native begins the 2018/19 season at the Mariinsky Theater as a soloist in the Young Opera Ensemble.
Her repertoire includes the role of Charmion from Massenet's CLEOPATRE, the second lady from Alexander Tchaikovsky's CHESS KING, Liponka from Sagdiev's REPKA and Arminda from Mozart's LA FINTA GIARDINIERA.
In summer 2018 she appeared in the role of Nedda in the new production of Leoncavallo's I PAGLIACCI at the Volkstheater Rostock.

In August 2018 she took part in the first “Sea Symphony” festival in Sochi under the direction of conductor Anton Lubchenko and director Hans-Joachim Frey and interpreted the role of Lola from Mascagni's CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA.
The following autumn she took part in the International Opera Workshop 2018 - Festival of Young Voices in Switzerland, where she interpreted excerpts from Handel's JULIO CESARE as Cleopatra, from Verdi's TRAVIATA as Violetta and as Nedda from Mascagni's I PAGLIACCI.
During the 2016/17 season, Laura Meenen took part in various new productions at the Mariinsky Theater and in Valery Gergiev's summer festival “The White Nights”. In the summer of 2017 she achieved great success as Contessa Almaviva in Mozart's LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with the young Vienna Philharmonic in Vienna (Konzerthaus), Graz (Konzerthaus), Salzburg (Odeion) and Schloss Thalheim (a project of the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic) .
Laura Meenen completed her postgraduate studies at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with Prof. T. Novichenko in 2017 and completed her master's degree at the Music and Art Private University of the City of Vienna with Prof. KS Elena Filipova and Niels Muus in 2019.
During her studies she sang the role of Euridice in Gluck's ORPHEE, the role of Tatyana in EUGENE ONEGIN and the role of Iolanta in the opera of the same name by Tchaikovsky, as well as the role of the Contessa in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and the role of Vitellia in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO by Mozart.
She became a finalist and won special prizes in international competitions such as the Competizione dell'Opera 2017, Fransisco Viñas Competition 2018 and the Ottavio Ziino Competition 2018.
She is the winner of the 2016 Rimski-Korsakov Competition, 2016 Pavel Lisizian Competition, 2015 Art Vocal Competition and 2014 Sviridov Competition.
From 2009 to 2011, Laura Meenen was a scholarship holder of the Gartow Foundation (Germany).
