The tenor Kangyoon Shine Lee, born in South Korea, studied singing at the Korea University of the Arts.
He won the 3rd prize in the Rope Korean Art Songs competition, the 1st prize in the La Bella Opera competition and the special prize in the Umjeounghaeng National Competition.
In 2016 he made his debut as Don Ottavio (“Don Giovanni”) in Korea, followed by roles such as Ernesto (“Don Pasquale”), Nemorino (“L'elisir d'amore”) and Tamino (“The Magic Flute”).
Since 2021 he has been studying singing with Prof. Roman Trekel at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. 2
In 2021 he won third prize at the prestigious 39th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition. He also received a special award for his commitment from the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
In 2021, the young tenor appeared on the stage of the Komische Oper Berlin as Giuseppe (“La Traviata”) and as Mr., Student, Policeman (Shostakovich's “Nos”).
In 2022 he will make his first guest appearance as Tamino at the Gut Immling Festival.
In December 2022 he will make his debut as Count Almaviva on the stage of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
