Liudmila Lokaichuk
soprano
Liudmila Lokaichuk is a lyric coloratura soprano known for her remarkable ability to interpret exclusive repertoire — works that demand both a strong artistic personality and virtuosic vocal control.
She was nominated as "Young Singer of the Year" in the yearbook of Opernwelt for the title role in the opera "Effi Briest" by Siegfried Matthus, written specifically for her and premiered at Staatstheater Cottbus in 2020. The same magazine had previously highlighted her debut as Zerbinetta in "Ariadne auf Naxos" (Oper Halle, 2019) in the category "Singer of the Year".
In the 2024/2025 season, she performs all three female roles — Olympia, Antonia, and Giulietta — in Offenbach’s "Hoffmanns Erzählungen" (Staatstheater Saarland).
In 2024, Lokaichuk celebrated a triumph as Zerbinetta in "Ariadne auf Naxos" at Teatro Verdi in Trieste. She had previously sung this role at Saarländisches Staatstheater, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and Opéra de Limoges. In 2025, she returned to Teatro Verdi and shone there as Blonde in Mozart’s "Die Entführung aus dem Serail".
During her engagement at Saarländisches Staatstheater, Liudmila Lokaichuk appeared as Morgana in "Alcina", Norina in "Don Pasquale", Violetta in "La Traviata", Lauretta in "Gianni Schicchi", and Konstanze in "Die Entführung aus dem Serail". In 2024, she also performed in a concert version of Wagner’s "Die Walküre" as Ortlinde at the Opéra Royal de Versailles.
Previously, she was a member of the ensemble at Oper Halle, where she made her debut as Inés in Meyerbeer’s "L’Africaine", Oscar in "Un ballo in maschera", and Donna Anna in "Don Giovanni". As the Italian Singer in Strauss’s "Capriccio", she made her debut at Oper Leipzig under the baton of Ulf Schirmer — alongside Camilla Nylund. At Staatstheater Cottbus, the young soprano was a permanent ensemble member from 2016 to 2018, where she appeared successfully as Blonde, the Queen of the Night, and Zerlina.
After completing her vocal studies at the Mussorgsky Conservatory in Yekaterinburg (graduating in 2011), she joined the ensemble of the Chelyabinsk State Opera, where she performed roles such as Susanna in "Le nozze di Figaro", Liudmila in "Ruslan und Liudmila", and Antonida in "Ein Leben für den Zaren". She made her debut as Gilda in "Rigoletto" in 2016 at the Ural Opera House.
Her first artistic appearance in Germany took place at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg Festival, where she debuted as Rosina in Frank Matthus’s production of "Il barbiere di Siviglia", conducted by Stefan Sanderling. In 2015, she first performed Violetta in "La Traviata" at the same festival.
Liudmila Lokaichuk was a prizewinner at the 2nd International Vocal Competition Ocean Classical Award 2013 with the Philharmonie der Nationen under the direction of Justus Frantz. She also received second prizes at the Concorso Lirico Internazionale Santa Gianna Beretta Molla (Milan) and the Concorso Lirico Internazionale XXII Premio Cleto Tomba (Bologna).
On the concert stage, she performed with the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin at the Berlin Benefit Opera Gala — as a young soloist alongside Edita Gruberová and Klaus Florian Vogt. Some years later, she once again shared the stage with Camilla Nylund — at the opera gala concert with the Saarländisches Staatsorchester under the baton of Sébastien Rouland.

Rosina ("Il barbiere di Siviglia")
And who wouldn’t fall in love with the Russian soprano Liudmila Lokaichuk? Her smile makes every coloratura sound like a lightly chirped nocturne. Opera buffa in the best sense of the word. — Der Tagesspiegel
Floretta ("Ritter Blaubart")
The most Parisian voice of the evening came from Russia and belongs to Liudmila Lokaichuk. The soprano has twice won major awards at the international singing competition of the Kammeroper in Rheinsberg.
