Soon-Wook Ka was born in Korea and studied from 2014 to 2017 at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under Prof. Thomas Piffka. He had already won several vocal competitions in Korea. During his studies in Germany, he took part in university productions of Joseph Haydn’s "Nelson Mass" and Ludwig van Beethoven’s "Mass in C major". In the 2015/16 season, he appeared in the Hochschule production of Maurice Ravel’s "L'heure espagnole" at Theater Aachen.
Further productions at this house followed, as a scholarship holder of the Theater Initiative Aachen: "Macbeth", "Ariadne auf Naxos", "Orphée et Eurydice", "Il Trittico". He later returned as a guest to perform in "La Traviata", "L’incoronazione di Poppea", and "Don Giovanni".
In addition, he was engaged at the Bonn Opera during the 2016/17 season, where he appeared in "La Bohème" and "Ronja Räubertochter".
From 2018 to 2024, Soon-Wook was a permanent member of the opera ensemble at Theater Aachen, where he performed in productions such as "La forza del destino", "Roméo et Juliette", "A Quiet Place", "Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein", as well as revivals of "La Traviata", "Werther", "The Wizard of Oz", "The Queen of Spades", "Turandot", "Carmen", "The Merry Widow", and "Sweeney Todd.
In 2024, Soon-Wook Ka won First Prize at the international vocal competition "Grandi Voci" in Salzburg.
